“Investment conviction is built on a solid understanding of what can go wrong.”

Mohamed is a partner of Victoire Brasil Investimentos since 2004. He now leads the portfolio construction of our long only strategy, assisted by the investment team. Over the last years, his experience and leadership supported the team development, coordinating analysts’ agenda, challenging portfolio managers, testing investment discipline and discussing portfolio construction, ensuring common investment philosophy and implementation of our process in compliance with internal and external risk and compliance guidelines. Mohamed works closely with the research team to coach them in diligence, valuation and fundamental research. His role includes supervising and monitoring the risk exposures of all portfolios run by the firm, including managed accounts. He was the portfolio manager of the long short strategy from 2004 to 2009, when Priscila Simon, the co-portfolio manager, became lead portfolio manager.

Prior to joining Victoire, Mohamed headed SSB Citigroup Asset Management equity arm in Brazil advising and managing more than USD 7 billion in onshore and offshore investments in the country. He was a member of the Asset Allocation Committee for onshore and offshore emerging market funds and was responsible for stock selection and portfolio construction for institutional, retail and private banking clients. Before that, Mohamed was a Senior buy side analyst in the Emerging Market Portfolio Group at Flemings in London before being appointed as its legal representative and managing director in Brazil, advising on some USD 1 billion in offshore equity investments. Mohamed began his career at Ernst & Young International in Paris, as an auditor.

Mohamed is a graduate of Paris IX Dauphine and holds a “Maîtrise des Sciences de la Gestion” and “Diplôme d'études Supérieures Spécialisées dans les Pays en voie de dévelopment” from the same university.
